Palau shares maritime (ocean) boundaries with Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Federated States of Micronesia.
To the best of my knowledge, NO! Both countries are part of the region called "Micronesia," but "Micronesia" is not a country/state/nation, just a region. However, the "Federated States of Micronesia" IS a state/country, as is Palau. Two DIFFERENT countries to be exact. I think an similar example is how Canada is part of (North) America, yet it is definitely NOT part of the United States of America.
Yes, geographically speaking, Palau(Belau) is in the Micronesian Archipelago therefore making it part of Micronesia. However, politically, the Republic of Palau is a sovereign country under the "Compact of Free Association" with the United States of America and is independent of the politically unified island states of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae that comprise the Federated States of Micronesia also commonly referred to politically as, yes you guessed it, "Micronesia". So maybe a better answer is, "Palau, and the Marshalls(RMI) for that matter, are in Micronesia and is debate-able depending upon who you ask and what mood they are in". So as the Micronesian saying goes, in one form or another, "....the ocean does not separate us, but rather, ties us together."
There are saltwater crocodiles on several Micronesian islands, especially on the islands of Palau (Belau)
Yes, it is a primary occupation.
The island that lies north of Melanesia is Micronesia, an island region in the western Pacific Ocean. Micronesia is composed of thousands of small islands and is divided into several countries, including the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, and the Marshall Islands.
The Federated States of Micronesia (Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap) use country code +691. There are no area codes. The local number is 7 digits.
