The King James Version is the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

The Book of Mormon is an additional book that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints includes as scripture, calling it "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". They believe that it was written by prophets in another part of the world that also believed in Jesus Christ.

The Bible testifies of Jesus Christ. Likewise the Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ. It gives the account of Christ coming to the American continent, and organizing his church among the people there, along with the history of many ancient peoples who settled the American continent long before Columbus arrived. The timeline is from about 600 B.C. to around 421 A.D.

The Bible underwent several translations thereby losing many doctrinal points given by prophets. The Book of Mormon was translated once from reformed Egyptian by the power of God through Joseph Smith, so it has retained its doctrine. This and geographic location of the peoples involved are the major differences.

It is called the Book of Mormon, because a prophet named Mormon abridged several records, and added words of his own, and engraved them on the gold plates, which Joseph Smith translated them from.

I would suggest to you a free copy of The Book of Mormon, so you can find out for yourself. If you read it and pray about it with sincerity, God will reveal to you the truthfulness of this book.

If you see missionaries from The Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints they can teach you more and give you a copy.

Anyone may request a free Book of Mormon if they would like to learn more by calling this number 1-888-537-7111

or Google search Free Book of Mormon and you will find it.

In regards to Scripture, Mormons (Latter Day Saints) only recognize the Authorized King James Version (KJV). Mainstream Christianity (Evangelical Protestants) also use the King James Version - but not exclusively like Mormons.

The difference between the two groups isn't about the version of the Bible used, it's more about interpretation. Mainstream Christians believe the Bible is God's only written and inerrant revelation to mankind. In other words, everything needed for faith and a proper understanding of God can be found in the Bible. On the other hand, Mormons generally believe the Bible is only accurate to a degree. According to the Later Day Saints (LDS), the Bible must be "interpreted correctly." Additionally, if any contradictions are found between the Bible and the the Book of Mormon, LDS will usually side with the Book of Mormon.

In short, even if things look similar on the surface, Mormonism and Evangelical Christianity have tremendous theological differences. These differences go way beyond the "version" of the Bible these groups might share.

Answer:

The "Mormon Bible" is the "Book of Mormon," which the Mormons believe supercedes and completes the Bible. It's allegedly the inspired writings of Joseph Smith, whom the Mormons regard as a latter day prophet (saint) of the God of Israel.

The Bible, however, is considered complete in itself. From the first book of "Genesis" (the beginning of time) to last book of "Revelation" (the prophecy and conclusion of God's plan), the Bible speaks of no other source apart from itself.

"...Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." (Rev.22:12-13)

Christians (including Mormons) believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and was written by those whose names appear in the Bible, over a period of nearly one and a half thousand years, beginning with Moses and finishing with the Book of Revelation around the end of the first century CE. Mormons believe the Book of Mormon is a record written by those whose names appear in the book, beginning just prior to the Babylonian Exile and ending a thousand years later in the Americas. They believe the Book of Mormon was translated for Joseph Smith by the angel Moroni.

Scholars say the Bible was written by a number of authors over a period of approximately a thousand years, beginning with anonymous sources writing early in the first millennium BCE and with the latest epistle being written pseudepigraphically towards the middle of the second century. Although Joseph Smith lived in the middle of the nineteenth century, the Book of Mormon was written in the archaic English of the King James Bible, almost as if either he or the angel Moroni believed that it would be more readily accepted if translated into 'biblical' English.

Both books contain scientific and historical errors, so it would probably be unfair to criticise the Book of Mormon on this basis, without similarly criticising the Bible. The Book of Mormon is no longer as central to the Mormon faith as it once was.

Additionally, the Catholic Bible includes books not found in the Mormon Bible, such as Tobit, Judith, and Maccabees.

Catholics and Christians Bible?

Roman Catholic AnswerNo difference, Catholic and Christian is the same thing. I imagine that you are asking the difference between a Catholic/Christian Bible and a protestant Bible, which protestants may refer to as a Christian Bible. Protestants have removed a number of books from the Old Testament as they were uncomfortable with not believing things that the Bible said, so they changed the Bible.

Does the Bible does talk about the Book of Mormon?

Yes or no, depending on whether you are a Mormon -Isaiah 29:11-12 contains an oracle of a book that the recipient could not read because he was illiterate. If this is to be read as a prophecy of a book yet to be compiled, it could be a prophecy of the Hebrew Bible or the Christian Bible, but Mormons prefer to read it as a direct reference to the Book of Mormon.

Catholics are Christian.Roman Catholic AnswerThere is no difference between a Catholic and a Christian according to the traditional interpretation of these two words, unfortunately, since the time of the protestant revolt, heretics have appropriated the word "Christian" to mean someone who believes in their own version of Jesus Christ and their own version of the Bible, and excludes Catholics.

Will Romney take the oath of office on the book of Mormon?

No. Mitt Romney will take the oath of office on the Bible. Mitt Romney believes that both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are scripture, and that both are of equal importance. He has no problem taking the oath of office on the Bible and would feel the same about swearing on the Bible as he would on the Book of Mormon.
