It depends how severe it is. I have hairline fractures a bone before and honestly if it wasn't blue I would never have had an xray. But that is person experience. My friends who have broken an arm and fractured it in the same place say the fracture hurt more :/ But if you dislocate a joint and have it relocated the pain is gone very soon and it heals very quickly.

A fracture is when your bones break in pieces, a sprain is when ligaments are stretched too far.

A fracture is when your bones break in pieces, a sprain is when ligaments are stretched too far and tear.

In most usage of the word, a fracture means something that has a small crack but not completely broken.

Sprain usually refers to a muscle, which can not crack or break.

I've never heard anyone refer to a "fractured muscle" or a "sprained bone". So I'm not sure why the confusion as it relates to Medical problems.

We aren't even talking about a sprained bone or a fractured muscle. we are talking about a fractured bone and a sprained muscle.
