The physical address is the unique hardware address that identifies an interface of a machine on a physical network such as a LAN. Physical addresses are used in the data link layer.

A network address is a machine's logical address on a network. The network address is used in the network layer. The network address used on the internet is the IP address.

Domain names are used as an aid to identify hosts and networks in the Internet, since names are easier to remember than numbers. The DNS system is used to translate between domain names and IP addresses. The domain name for the network address 128.100.132.30 is toronto.edu.

Domain Names and IP addresses are similar to variable names and their memory locations in a programming language.

What we use are domain names.

Eg: wiki.answers.com

first part is the host name and the last part is the type of organisation

'wiki' is the host name which belongs to the 'answers' domain which inturn is a part of the 'com' domain

IP addresses are numeric addresses (usually 32-bit) given to every computer accessing the internet.

Name servers are used to convert domain names to appropriate IP addresses.

What is the difference between a Network address and Broadcast address?

When you set up a sub network you decide upon the subnet mask and this determines the network address (all zeros in the subnet portion of the address) and the broadcast address (all ones in the subnet portion of the address). When you assign the host addresses in your subnet, then you use the addresses between the network address and the broadcast address.

What is difference between a logical network and physical?

A physical network is different from a logical network. Logical networks are defined at the Network layer by the arrangement of the hierarchical addressing scheme. Physical networks represent the interconnection of devices on a common media. Sometimes, a physical network is also referred to as a network segment

What is the difference between your IPv4 address and your IP address?

What is the difference between network architecture and network topology?

Network architecture refers to the design and structure of a network, including components, protocols, and technologies used for communication. Network topology, on the other hand, refers to the physical or logical layout of devices and how they are connected in a network, such as bus, star, ring, or mesh. In essence, network architecture defines how components work together, while network topology defines how components are arranged.

What does ARPA stand for?

ARP stands for Address Resolution Protocol, a network layer protocol used to convert an IP address into a physical address, such as an Ethernet address. A host wishing to obtain a physical address broadcasts an ARP request onto the TCP/IP network. The host on the network that has the IP address in the request then replies with its physical hardware address.

What converts an IP address to its corresponding physical network address?

How do you bridge the same IP address between Windows as host OS and Linux as guest OS in VMWare?

You need to connect VMs to internal NAT (should be configured with physical adapter to access physical network). While within NAT VMs are going to have different IP addresses, within physical network (your local network) its IP address is going to be the same.
