You can "love" lots of PLACES and THINGS, sometimes people even. You would love your parents or children, but you are "in love" with your husband or boyfriend/girlfriend. There is a whole different meaning to "being in love" Being in love is an emotion of longing to be with a certain person, like you want to spend eternity with them..you never want to be apart from them..you want to please them in every way. A wonderful feeling of romance and desire enters into your being. Being in love makes you feel like, "less of me" and "more of him/her" I don't know how else to put it and some might disagree, but that would be my answer.
Family can be love and love can be family. There is no distinct difference between them.
