Oraibi is a pueblo in Northern Arizona located on a mesa, north of Winslow. It was built around the year1150 and was discovered by Pedro de Tova, a lieutenant of Coronado, in 1540. Oraibi was the most important pueblo of the Hopi Indians as it was the oldest, continually inhabited locale in North America. Today, Oraibi is little more than a ruin. St. Augustine, Florida, founded in 1565 by the Spanish explorer Pedro de Aviles, is the oldest European established city in the United States.
