My history professor said, that Cebu was already a progressive kingdom in its pre-hispanic time. They were already said to be trading with Chinese and Arabs at that time. Historians also believed that the itinerary of Magellan lead him next to Cebu because after the first mass in Limasawa island, the Datu there said to go to Cebu for it was a rich kingdom, to get some supplies.
