Nissan Sentra's have factory-installs 'ND', or Nippondenso spark plugs. You can use Autolite, Bosch, Champion, or NGK spark plugs for Sentras.

If you are using platinum plugs, they should not require gapping. Use on what the manufacture has approved. You will get better service.
.043 is the correct plug gap my friend
The spark plug gap for a 1999 Nissan Sentra that has a 1.6 liter engine should be set a .044 inches. New spark plugs should not need adjusting as they come preset from the factory.
The spark plug gap, on your 1997 Nissan, is .007. Most spark plugs will come already pre-gapped and will not need any further attention.
