Please post a new question with the coin's country. It would most likely be from Canada because at the time very few countries in the British Empire used dollars and cents.
If the coin is from the United States, it's a picture of MISS LIBERTY. It's very definitely NOT a picture of Queen Victoria, due to a little thing called the Revolutionary War.
The value of an 1899 Queen Victoria dime can vary depending on its condition, rarity, and market demand. In general, these dimes can range from a few dollars to over a hundred dollars for well-preserved examples. It's recommended to have it appraised by a professional coin dealer or numismatist to get an accurate value.
There's no such coin. Britain has never minted nickels, the first Canadian nickels were dated 1922, and the US doesn't put British monarchs on its coins due to a little problem way back in 1776.
You probably have an American Liberty Head nickel; the V on the back is the Roman numeral (remember those?) for 5, and not an initial for Victoria If so, it's worth about $3 to $4 in average condition.
You didn't include which country issued the coin, but it's most likely from Canada. Regardless, a 1998 coin is too new to have any added value.
1,750$
There is no such thing as an 1899 mercury dime. Mercury dimes were not introduced until 1916. The Barber dimes that were in circulation in 1899 are made of 90% silver and are worth about $1.15 in metal value. The collector's value of the coin is highly variable, being affected by the condition the coin is in and the mint it was made at.
? i never saw a dime with a p under the queen.... i dont think so If there isn't usually a P under the queen's head, it certainly has value. You are just unable to use the dime like a normal dime (if that makes any sense).
Mercury dimes were made from 1916 to 1945. You have a "Barber" dime, named for its designer Charles Barber. Please see the Related Question for more information.
There were Indian head cents and Liberty head dimes. Please determine which you have and post a new question.
You have a Barber dime; Mercury dimes started in 1916. The value depends on its grade & mint mark, but it's worth at least $4.00 just for the silver.
An 1897 dime from hong kong is worth at least $2.43 today.I hope that helped.
the value of a dime is ten cents
Because the value of it is worth half the value of a dime.
Ten cents was the value of the dime in 1940.
