∙ 11y agoIt has two very common names. In English, the most common way to refer to this conflict is the Iran-Iraq War (of 1980-1988). Prior to the Gulf War of 1990-1991, the Iran-Iraq War was also called the First Gulf War (of 1980-1988). This name is still used by Arabs and Iranians to refer to the conflict, but causes confusion with Westerners who use the term Iran-Iraq War and the term Gulf War to refer to what Arabs and Iranians call the Second Gulf War (of 1990-1991).
