There may be an O-ring on the bottom of the distributer cap if that is missing it would cause it to misfire when wet.

There is no distributor cap or O-ring. This is a distributorless system. I think the problem is arching in the coil housing or moisture somewhere in the ignition wiring outside of the housing.
replace it
A cracked "engine housing" probably means a cracked block. Very not good. A new engine will most likely be required to fix the problem, as a cracked block is next to impossible to repair.
The ignition cylinder is the part you turn your key in to start the car, this is in its housing.
Should be in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose

Because the plastic housing is cracked. That is what happened to mine.
I had a similar problem. My solution was to replace the distributor's stator - part of the breakerless ignition. My stator's plastic housing had cracked which caused an intermitant shorting of the ignition system.
