I hope that this is not a loaded question where the questioner has the assumption that few 'intelligent' people would deign themselves to follow Jesus Christ, and is expecting an answer that suggests that there are very few PhDs who would stoop so low as to be Christians.
That said, it is impossible to give an accurate percentage of all the millions of PhDs that exist and have existed who are Christians. However, the questioner might be surprised by the high percentage who do profess a faith in Jesus Christ. He or she would also be surprised by the percentage of science PhDs who profess such a faith.
Whilst I am not a PhD, I do hold two degrees in science (chemistry) and am currently working on a third (in middle age!) in theology, as a Christian and an ordinand in the Anglican Church. Contrary to what some believe, there is little conflict, if any, between science and Christianity despite what Richard Dawkins might suggest. I know he does not believe in God, but then neither do I believe in that same God he denies; at least I simply do not recognise what he means by God as it certainly is not the Christian God who he denegrates, as he has a very skewed and warped percption of Christ and Christians.
If the questioner wishes to discuss science and faith, I suggest that he looks up John Polkinhorne as a prome example of how faith and science (he is a professor of particle physics) work together, or drop me an email with specific questions at my Wiki email mailto:johnwelsh@wikianswers.com.
Christianity itself is not getting a bad immage, but those who profess to be Christians but do not practice Christian doctrine. Christianity is a belief which has Jesus Christ at its head.
Those who profess the faith, are in a state of grace, desire to recieve the Sacrament, and intend to live as a disciple of Christ and witness to the faith, both within the Church and in the world are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confiramtion
The impact of Christianity on world history is huge. Our very calendars were set to indicate how long it has been since Christ's birth, although the humans who calculated it may have been mistaken. Christianity, through both the good deeds of Christ's followers and the mistakes of those who profess to believe have affected many many events throughout the world since the time of Christ.
The bride of Christ is the church which are those who believe in and follow Christ.
It is fairly high, 95%
The percentage of those in prison in nz WHO DO WHAT?
Prosecutions and court evidence indicate that those who profess religious beliefs are no less likely than non-believers to commit tax evasion, fraud or other white collar crimes. Religious beliefs appear to play no part in public ethical or moral conduct.
Tell them that Jesus loves them and that salvation exists for those that accept Christ and repent and we can have new life in Christ. Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Also look up Matthew 6:14-15 and John 14:6 and John 3:36
Some certainly did and converted to Islam. However, those Jews who remain Jews will accept the right for Muslims to profess Islam, but will consider those views incorrect for themselves.
The Disciples of Christ are Christian, from the Protestant branch of Christianity. Jewish people generally do not believe that "Christ" has come yet, and those people who do believe he came are called Christians (followers of Jesus Christ). So, the Disciples of Christ would be gentiles, since they are not Jews. It is worth noting that "Disciples of Christ" is the name of a particular church, not a general term for those who follow Christ.
It is only important to those that hold strong spiritual beliefs. Many of those that profess to have a religion do not pray regularly therefore do not consider it important. People that hold no spiritual beliefs do not pray.
Although there are certain traditions among those that profess to be Baptists it is not well known that EACH individual congregation has its own covenant and beliefs.
