I've heard Herbal Essences products are bad for your hair, but I love them! My hair feels healthier now that I'm using them... I love Herbal Essences Reconditioning Shampoo and Conditioner.they make my hair so soft and shiny. I also use Aussie 3-minute miracle twice a week, it makes my hair incredibly soft... I shower at night, so the next day I use Garnier Fructis anti-frizz serum... It protects my hair and makes it shiny. I recommend using it when your hair is dry.... BTW: you shouldn't use a lot of product...less is more
^^ That sounds like a typical hair routine. If you really want to improve the condition of your hair, you're going to have to get better products than drug store conditioners. If you color, (which may be why your hair is damaged) I like Coloresse Sulfate-free Moisturizing Shampoo from Sally Beauty Supply. Sulfates are in practically every shampoo that doesn't specifically say its sulfate-free, & they can be very harsh/drying to your hair. I recently switched over & it made a big difference. As far as conditioners, I'd just choose one (also from Sally's.. you do get what you pay for. you'll notice a difference in the way it makes your hair feel) with natural ingredients, water as the first, & not too much protein (this can make hair stiff). I've heard mineral oil is bad too but heard it from women w/ ethnic hair so I'm not sure if that applies for everyone else.. Personally I like Ion's damage repairing line, not sure what its called. I use their moisturizing treatment.
Also, the amount of hair product you use depends on how much hair you have. I have a LOT of hair, so I can use a lot of product & when it dries it doesn't look like I have any at all. Especially if you have curly or frizzy hair, adding more product might work well for you. Dry hair needs help binding the pieces together to look defined. when I use a mix of mousse, gel, cream, & shine/glossing serum it comes out pretty well
Any, just make sure it targets Dry hair. But don't buy extra cheap Shampoo's?Conditioners, it will just make your hair strawlike and dryer than how you started out.

The best way to treat chemically damaged hair immediately is to use a damaged hair product such as H2 Ion. To prevent future chemically damaged hair, regulate the use of the chemicals you use to style your hair. You can start by limiting the use of perms, dyes, and relaxers to once every 8 to 10 weeks to give your hair time to recover between treatments. Another way to avoid chemically damaged hair is to follow the instructions on home perms and dyes to the letter, so that the chemicals don't sit too long on your hair.

Hair, once out of the hair sacs and above the scalp is dead. Not much you can do about that. Hair, still under production is all controlled by the body anyhow. And if the hair sacs are damaged, not much to do about that either. If the hair sacs are OK, just do what you should to stay overall healthy and your hair should sort itself out.
