It's very hard to say what would be the most important item in a survival kit, but if you know that you will be in the wilderness and could possibly be lost , here are a few things that you should have in a kit. (these are not in any particular order)
1. Compass
2. Multi-tool (or a pocket knife)
3. String
4. Lighter or matches
5.Magnifying Glass
6. A smart mind, you have to keep a cool head in order to survive. Be prepared for the worst.

∙ 13y agoAn emergency kit should include only the items specific for the type of emergency for which you are preparing. For example, a medical first aid kit would hold different items than a tornado emergency kit.
A medical emergency kit could include:
- Alcohol wipes
- Iodine wipes
- cleaning wipes - towelettes
- hand sanitizer
- Bandaids, all sizes
- a first-aid antimicrobial ointment (prevent infections)
- Steri-strips (strips that close small wounds)
- Gauze pads (2" x 2" and 4"x4")
- bandages (rolls, bought at the store)
- Cloth tape (medical cloth tape, buy in a pharmacy, such as the brand name of Durapore)
- Ace bandage, wrist size
- Ace bandage, ankle/foot size
- Arm sling
- Small or medium bottle of Aspirin or other mild pain reliever
A tornado emergency kit could also include the above items but also include:
- Ready-to-eat foods
- Water
- Electrolyte type drinks
- Anything that will not spoil
- Flashlights
- Blanket
- Sheet
- Change of clothing for 1 day
- A 3-day (currently purchased) supply of all medications each family member needs
Emergency kits differ depending on the region where you live and the most prominent risks. For example, emergency kits may include more specific items in a hurricane-prone area, versus a flood-prone area.
A basic emergency kit should contain most of the the following (during an emergency, they may be unavailable) :
- Water and small food rations
- Empty containers for water
- Water Purification tablets or filters
- Any necessary prescriptions, ID bracelets, and medicines.
- Bandages and first-aid kit with instruction manual
- Battery-powered radio and batteries
- Flashlight (and/or glow sticks)
- Matches or similar source of fire
- Knife and hatchet or cutting tool
- Emergency flare or whistles
- Plastic sheeting and Duct Tape
- Rain ponchos
- Blankets
- Work Gloves and goggles
- Disposable dust masks
You should have a tenser bandage , band aids , scissors , a napkin or cloth , it really all depends on wear your going but these are the basics :)

The general idea behind most emergency kits is to keep the user alive until first responders and emergency management organizations can arrive and begin providing relief. These items can usually fit into a small backpack.
