They believed in a phony theory of Pure Aryan Race. This is a non-existent race. They believed the Jews were not Aryan and they were the cause for all the ills of the world. They chose to follow a plan called the Final Solution to exterminate all the Jews "in the world", meaning Europe, and to send the Aryans all over Europe to procreate and make a perfect race for the 1000 year Third Reich. So Aryan ism motivated them and they committed millions of murders in the name of it. See the link below.

The Nazis, or properly named the National Socialists German Workers Society set out on the belief that only 'Aryans' or Caucasian white men were fit to remain noble members of society. Socialism, which Hitler tried to force upon Germany, was a type of Governism which basically meant that people worked for the government, and the government worked for the people.

Basically, all in all, Hitler's theory was, "I have to clean the world."

I can not go much farther without talking about my own views and beliefs, but I hope this helps answer your question.

Also, deaths in the Holocaust included many more than just Jews and Gypsies, such as mentally and physically disabled, Jehovah's Witness and Communists.
