red is a primary color

Red is a primary color of light, but not of pigment. Magenta and yellow pigments mix to make red. That's how your color printer makes red.

Ok well no colors make red ... only red is absorbed by light and nothing else. so if your experimenting to see what colors make red stop.

The above answer is wrong. Mix magenta and yellow paint to make red, the same way your color printer makes red.

Red is a primary color of light, but not pigment. The old color theory (now scientifically proved wrong) say that red is a primary color. This has been known to be false since the late 1800s, but many who worship the art masters cling to the old primaries, even though they are wrong.

Red is a primary colour and can't be produced by mixing two colours. If you meant a dark red? Then add a touch of dark blue to red and mix well.
