What visas does a British person need to marry an American citizen in the U.S. and what does the American need to do after the wedding if they plan to live in England?

My British fiance and I are going through the same thing and so far the only answer we have found is for the US citizen to apply for a "Settlement" visa. First of all, all you need is his birth certificate and yours to get married in the states. I know, I have done this. You can get married and live in America, he still has to go through INS to be a perm. resident. As far as you going to live in UK, well, check with INS in UK to see what you need to do. It really isn't hard to do, it is time consuming and costs some money. That is all! My husband and I reside in the states, he is now a permanent resident, but isn't going to become a US Citizen, he likes the fact that he is still a British citizen and a perm res of USA. Good luck!
