Gondwanaland was named after a tribe called Gonda,as a tribute to the people living there. It was the combination of five different continents which are now separated due to several force and events leading to severe structural deformation of earth crust due to engagement of tectonic plates.

Involved continents-India,Australia,South America,Africa and Antarctica.

The land began to break up in mid Jurassic when east gondwana comprising of Antarctica,Madagascar,India and Australia began to move away from Africa.
