They experienced tough land conditions and terrible weather. I feel sorry for them, because their feet swelled and they lost their toes. My grandfather was a soldier and he said there were many homosexals and bisexuals there, asking for sex. Oooooooh yah!

It was very hard, as women had to do jobs men normally did and rations slowed people up a bit.

Second answer: The Australians were attacked in the town of Darwin. People were killed and property damaged. Other areas were harmed by the Japanese. They had to transfer children to the southern parts of Australia. Many families left the northern and eastern parts of Australia for the southern parts. Many men joined the military to fight in both the European, African and Pacific theaters of operations. They did and excellent job even though some lost their lives. The Australians went through similar experiences of the UK island but the Australians had many of their civilians imprisoned and treaty cruelly by the Japanese.

Many young Australians lost parents. Many Australian parents lost children. Many Australians came back crippled and psychologically scared from the war experience. Australians in Darwin experienced bombing by the Japanese and in Sydney attacks by mini submarines. American soldiers on R&R also left quite a few litle new Australians behind. to name but a few of the experiences.

Poor food, rough conditions and terrains, bad weather and fear were the hardships of Australian soldiers in ww2, although the cold weather probably stood out the most for our soldiers.
