It was General George Armstrong Custers last stand with the seventh calvary and it was also the first time the plains indians united to try to keep the white settlers from running them off the land they felt was rightfully theirs. The difference was the white settlers wanted to own land while the indians revered the earth and realized they were only guests here.

Smith noted that this was "the only portion [of their reservation] worth anything to them." He concluded that "nothing short of their annihilation will get it from them. The U.S. government then set about to doing just that. TLBH was one of many campaigns. One that failed.

Actually, it wasn't very important. In less than a year, the Native Americans who had fought at Little Big Horn surrendered to the US Army and, with few exceptions, agreed to live on reservations.
