He preached "Ahisma" or peaceful boycott against British rule. He more than anybody else in the Indian Congress or Muslim minorities (before 1947) appeased radicalism and civil violence. His views, although arguably naive, were internationally appraised. Besides, for the colonial rulers it was all the more difficult to "appease" revolts if these were peaceful demonstrations that called for self-rule, "Swaraj".
Although he did not succeed in holding India together, neither in avoiding civil war, he died (in 1947 while appeasing civil war in Bengal) being a hero. His naivety must be balanced with his spiritual determination and virtuous personality, which ultimately granted him the tittle of Mahatma Gandhi.
Courage,Nonviolence and truth,honesty Hope this helped :)
Gandhi opposed the caste system in India and believed in the equality of all individuals regardless of their caste. He worked towards eradicating the discrimination and untouchability associated with the caste system by promoting social reforms and advocating for the equal treatment of all people. Gandhi saw the caste system as a social evil that needed to be abolished for the betterment of Indian society.
Ghandi's entire famously known career was because of how he protested against british colonization of India very peacefully, so in my own words, he showed his views through peaceful rebellion
