Consequently, Kennedy developed a very strong interest in "special warfare"...and the US Army's GREEN BERET and the Navy's SEALs were the result of President Kennedy's interests. In 1961 Kennedy sent his "special warfare men" to Vietnam; they were to fight fire with fire...and beat the enemy at their own game. When Kennedy was shot in 1963, the old regime (Traditional thinkers) took over the White House; and Vietnam was fought WW2 style...with bombers, tanks, and artillery.
