A:Many Christians say, yes. They believe that one day every living Christian will be 'caught up' and taken to heaven. They say that non-believers will be left on earth to suffer. In fact, a well-known Christian preacher promised that the rapture would happen on 21st May 2011, with the end of the world to come the following October. His day of the rapture has come and gone, and no one has noticed any missing Christians, so either there were very few good Christians or his supposed rapture was a scam to collect donations from believers. There have been hundreds of other predictions of the end of the world, ever since apostolic times.

Others wonder when Christian fascination with the rapture will cease, and religious people at least accept that there will be no supernatural end of the world. They say the rapture will never happen.

Answer:

Assuming the question is referring to the diverse "rapture theories" taught by many professing Christian denominations today... the word "rapture" isn't in The Bible. So, you would have to define which "rapture theory" of which denomination you inquire, before it can be theorized as to what happens afterward.

The "rapture" is what the Bible refers to as the moment when Christ's believers (who are not already dead) are taken up into the clouds to "meet the Lord in the air". First is the rapture, followed by the tribulation, ending with Armageddon.

Another answer from our community:

The answer is simple, nothing will happen to anyone because the rapture will not occur, we live in the 21st century where science is a big part of life, there is virtually no possibility that a person who might not have existed would fly in the sky and kill everyone, now you may have your beliefs but its time people wake up and see that these are all silly little made up stories.

The 'Rapture' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, founder of the Plymouth Brethren, in the nineteenth-century. The concept has evolved over a period of nearly two hundred years, but is still essentially the same as originally proposed by Darby. Although few people belong the the Plymouth Brethren Church, many Christians now believe in its founder's most enduring theological creation, the Rapture.

Barbara R. Rossing (The Rapture Exposed) says that Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice, first in secret to "Rapture" Christians out of the world and up to heaven, then a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. When defining his theology of the rapture, Darby avoided predicting a specific date for Christ's return, instead inventing "dispensations" - intervals of time ordering God's grand timetable for world events. The final period would consist of seven years of tribulation after the Rapture. The usual position of proponents of the Rapture is that children below the age of accountability will be taken up in the Rapture, and that non-believers would have the chance to repent during the tribulation.

Lindsey, a later proponent of the Rapture says that armageddon will ensue, but that Jesus will return just in time to save man from self-extinction.

Another proponent, Tim LaHaye, says that the tribulation will do away with the planet as we know it. There will be two destructions, the second more severe than the first and will include even the atmosphere. Only after these two destructions will God create a new heaven and a new earth, says LaHaye.

We can see from all this how speculative the theology of the Rapture is. There is no genuine support for this in the Bible, but Lindsey argues in The Rapture: Truth or Consequences that otherwise "The Bible cannot be understood as a consistent and cohesive whole. The only alternative is to allegorize large portions of scripture . . . in order to keep the Bible from contradicting itself."

While scholars and Christians have a variety of ways to interpret the Bible, it is commonly thought that all (both the living and the dead, who "will rise from their graves") who have been deemed worthy of salvation will be brought to heaven with Jesus during the rapture.

Answer:

Assuming that the "rapture" in question [a word that isn't in the Bible] is speaking of the prophesied event the Bible calls the "gathering unto the Lord" all of His saints at His coming -- the Scriptures are more specific than many people are willing to believe.

When Jesus appears in the sky... in the "clouds" [a phenomena that occurs only 'within the earth's atmosphere']... we are informed that the 'DEAD IN CHRIST" will rise FIRST, before Jesus sends His angels to gather any of God's "saints living on the earth" into the "clouds" with them.

"According to the Lord's own Word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will CERTAINLY NOT PRECEDE THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP['fallen asleep'; Bible speak for THOSE WHO HAVE DIED].

"For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a LOUD COMMAND, with the voice of the archangel and with the Trumpet call of God, and THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST.

"AFTER THAT, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS to meet the Lord IN THE AIR..." (I Thess.4:15-17 NIV).

These "DEAD IN CHRIST" [all the big names recorded in the Bible; Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Peter, John, Paul, etc] resurrect... reanimate... regenerate... LIVE AGAIN at the time of the "rapture" [the time of the gathering of God's saints unto the Lord in the clouds in the air above the earth].

Of this specific "time frame," the Bible also tells us that "those who have died and are NOT Christ's" WILL NOT RESURRECT UNTIL A THOUSAND YEARS, LATER!!

Speaking of those "dead in Christ" resurrected at His coming and the gathered saints living on earth at that time... the Bible says:

"...They came to life and REIGNED WITH CHRIST A THOUSAND YEARS. (The REST OF THE DEAD did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the FIRST RESURRECTION. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the First Resurrection. The SECOND DEATH has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years." (Rev.20:4-6 NIV)

So... what happens to the "dead in Christ" at the time of the "rapture" [the time of the gathering of God's saints unto the Lord at His coming]? These "dead" shall be the first to live again... and will, with the rest of the gathered saints, reign over the nations of the earth with Christ for a thousand years. They'll be resurrected "immortal" and incapable of dying any more. Death cannot touch them again, forever.

"I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge..." (Rev.20:4).

"...the saints of the Most High will receive the Kingdom and will possess it forever -- yes, for ever and ever." (Dan.7:18 NIV)

"...the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the Kingdom." (verse 22)

"To him who overcomes and does My will to the end, I will give authority over the nations -- he will rule them with an iron scepter..." (Rev.2:26-27 NIV).

"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the Kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world." (Matt.25:34 NIV)

What happens to the "rest of the dead" who are NOT Christ's at the time of the "rapture" [the gathering unto the Lord]? Nothing. The "rest of the dead" STAY DEAD until the thousand years are over... and the Judgment is set [see Rev.20:11-15]

The 'Rapture' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, the nineteenth-century founder of the Plymouth Brethren. Although few people belong the the Plymouth Brethren Church, many Christians believe in its founder's most enduring theological creation, the Rapture. Barbara R. Rossing (The Rapture Exposed) says that according to one critic, the Rapture has its origins with a young girl's vision. In 1830, in Port Glasgow, Scotland, fifteen-year-old Margaret MacDonald attended a healing service where she was said to have seen a vision of a two-stage return of Jesus Christ. The story of her vision was adopted and amplified by Darby.

The belief that Jesus will come again was not new, and Christians have always taught that Jesus will return to earth and that believers should live in anticipation of his second coming. Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice, first in secret to "Rapture" his church out of the world and up to heaven, then a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth.

According to the dispensationalist's script, much bloodshed, torture and violent death is required during every phase of the timetable, as spelled out in thet reading of chapters 5-79 of Revelation. After Jesus wins the battle of Armageddon he will then set up his millennial kingdom from the throne of David in Jerusalem, and will reign for one thousand years over a kingdom repopulated by converted Jews and un-Raptured people left behind on earth. After that comes the last judgment, followed by eternity itself - God's New Jerusalem. To this overall timetable individual authors in modern times add a host of other details from the Book of Revelation.

Darby only talked about what he expected to happen to people, not what would happen to animals. So, even on the basis of Darby's scheme, we can only speculate on what would happen to animals. Fortunately, there will be no Rapture and we do not really have to worry about what would happen to animals.

What will happen to harlots at the time of rapture?

The concept of the rapture, as understood in Christian theology, generally teaches that true believers will be taken up to meet Jesus in the air. The fate of individuals like harlots is not explicitly detailed in this context, as it is believed that salvation is available to all who accept Jesus Christ as their savior, regardless of their past actions or occupations. Ultimately, it is believed that only God can judge the hearts of individuals at the time of the rapture.

Different Christian denominations have varying beliefs on when Jesus will take the church home in relation to the tribulation. Some believe in a pre-tribulation rapture where the church will be taken before the tribulation, while others believe in a post-tribulation rapture where it will happen after the tribulation. When is the Rapture predicted to happen?

Well, the Rapture has been PREDICTED several times in history, but there (is due to the idea of the Rapture being based on a false faith) not ever going to be a rapture, and you would be better off spending your time enjoying your life as opposed to wasting it following an ancient desert person's false accusations.
