I have a 92 e-150 w/351 (5.8L) and it takes a 9/16" deep socket with about a 10" extension and a 3/8" rachet to get to the starter bolts and a 1/2" wrench or socket to take off the main battery cable from the starter and also a screwdriver to remove the start (small) wire from the starter but sometimes they have a small bolt or they just clip on. Be sure to disconnect the battery first or sparks will fly! You may have a rubber splash guard covering the bottom of the engine that will need to be removed first. Hope this helps, Jeff
