IF THIS IS NOT A HEAT PUMP SYSTEM... COULD BE;
thermostat connecting(calling for) heat and cool together.
connnection problem in wires- or bad thermostat.
find wiring diagram for t-stat, read up on checking voltage in thermostat in the heat-or cool mode. they are separate. does t-stat have separate 'heat-cool' mode. in other words- do you have to switch to heat mode-or cool mode. if it is a heat pump--ask again with that stated in question.
the answer is air conditioner
Heater core is leaking. Air Conditioner drain hose is plugged.
Low coolant causing air bubbles in the heater core.....
It's obvious that you have problems with wiring. I would start from the heater/AC control panel.
the air conditioner and heater are two separate things.(not connected) ;) it may have a fuse. or the it could just be bad.
No...
Yes, the heater uses and cools hot water from the engine that would otherwise have to be cooled in the radiator. But, this only works if there is enough water to circulate. If your engine is overheating from insufficient coolant, the heater won't be much help. Turning off the air conditioner will always help. The air pulled in the front grille passes over the hot AC condenser before it gets to the engine radiator. The AC compressor also puts a load on the engine, so turning it off will make less heat in the engine.
Do you mean that the heater will not shut down either by turning the thermostat down or turning the switch off. If turning the pump off will not shut down the heater it could possibly be one of the high limits or the gas valve has failed in the open position. If the heater will not fire when calling for heat then one or more components has failed. k
A bad alternator will cause a battery to go bad. It does not have an effect on the air conditioner.
drain for the air conditioner heater case could be stopped up,or a heater core leaking... !!!!
In the event that your heater isn't turning on you ought to initially check assuming the channel is perfect. Grimy channels cause lacking wind stream and can keep the heater from beginning. Different reasons it won't begin can come from inappropriate indoor regulator settings, neglecting to turn on the gas line, or broken pilot light.
