We cannot be sure of what factors caused the atmosphere of Venus to be so thick and corrosive and hot. Certainly, being much closer to the Sun contributes to the heat, but Venus is even hotter than Mercury!

Venus has a very slow rotation; in fact, the "day" is longer than the "year"! Finally, Venus has no moon, and some scientists speculate that Earth's large Moon has had an effect of skimming the upper layers of the atmosphere away, or that the tidal forces have stirred the atmosphere.

So we really can't guess how Venus might have developed if it had a faster rotation.

How does rotation affect the value of gravity at the earth surface?

The (centripital) force due to rotation is at its greatest at the equator, if you weigh 100 kg, the force of gravity on you = approx. 982 n anywhere on earths surface, the centripetal force at the equator = 3.4 n
