These invaders are now called Dorians.These remnants of the mycenic empire who managed to stay are called Jonians. Those who were forced to migrate built many cities around the Aegean, of which the biggest was perhaps Corinth.

∙ 14y agoLike all myths, they originated as stories to explain the unknown and teach morals. Natural events were personified as gods, eg Iris, goddess of the rainbow. If you were wondering if the Greeks based their myths upon earlier religions, then I don't think so.
