It wasn't anywhere, because it wasn't a war.
The Cold War is called a cold war because there was no actual battle or firing (or else it'd be a hot war). it was between the USSR and the US because after WWII ended they were the dominating countries. However, US was democratic and the USSR was a communist nation and the US decided that we would do whatever it would take to "contain" communism. Russia, what the US considered 2nd world, tried to turn 3rd world countries such as Cuba, Vietnam, and Korea into communist nations. The US, to keep its policy of containment, would interfere with all of Russia's plans of spreading communism. This led to the Cuban Missile Crisis, Korean War, and Vietnam War. There was obviously battles fought in Vietnam and Korea, but since it wasn't between the USSR and the US, it's considered a cold war. There's lots of little details about the Cold War because it actually lasted until 1991. This is just a brief summary to get the idea though.
