So you've checked the fluid level by pulling the dipstick out of the dipstick holder? Well, just add new fluid right in the dipstick holder. *****!!!!!!!DON'T OVERFILL IT!!!!!***** There will be a MAX mark on the dipstick, and it is JUST AS IMPORTANT as the low mark. Seriously. It's a pain in the butt to bleed off excess fluid too so just don't overfill it.
^^^ I'm assuming since u have the 2.4 auto it is the 4 speed with OD.
it should be the 4t40 tranny, and there is no dip stick on the transmission, just a fill cap.. BUT i do know there is a small bolt that u take out of the transmission when filling, and when it's high enough, it leaks out of the hole...
BUT i do not know where it is exatally, but there for sure shouldn't be a dip stick... just the bolt in the side of the transmission, do a Google search and u may find where the bolt is located u need to remove when u fill it...
according to a 97 cavi's owners manual you are not supposed to have to fill the auto trans fluid UNLESS there is a leak in the system. There is a small dipstick located oh the transmission it will be on the drivers side of the engine bay all the way down on the trans it is kinda hard to get to but it does have makings for full and Low
You must fill it through the tube for the dipstick I suggest getting a new clean funnel
there should be a plug on the driver's side of the engine, about half-way down, in the center. it should have a red cap. remove air-intake hose, and look straight down, you should be able to see it.
if it is an automatic it should have a dipstick on the drivers side of the engine towards the rear of the engine and if it is a manual you fill it from a plug on the transmission itself
On a 1996 Ford Mustang : The automatic transmission fluid level dipstick is located in the engine compartment , near the firewall , on the passenger side of the engine in the engine compartment ( use a funnel )
Its underneith the car by the transmission pan the cap on the engine block is just where you would fill it.
4 quarts of oil, providing that you changed the oil filter too.
your question is a bit ambiguous if you are talking about he engine oil filter it has nothing to do with the transmission do NOT put automatic transmission oil in the engine you will blow the engine
the 2.2 has the oil fill and combined dip stickleft side in the front. the 2.4 oil fill is at the back left side, dip stick back of engine right of center
It is attached to the oil fill cap located front and center in your engine compartment.
If it's a manual, there is no fill point. If it's an automatic there is a red knob type looking thing directly on top of the tranny that you unscrew and add fluid to.
Locate the fill tube located at the back of the engine near the firewall; remove the dipstick (or check it); insert funnel and fill.
READ your owner's manual. It says with the engine WARM and running, fill transmission to the FULL mark on the dip stick. If you fill it just a bit above the mark, it will NOT hurt...........
