In the small town of Gansbaai -- about a 2.5-hour drive from Cape Town along the east (Indian ocean) coast -- you can go underwater in a cage to see the shark known as the Great White.
It is also possible to float in a cage in a shark tank with ragged tooth sharks at uShaka Marine World in Durban.
Shark Cage Diving is when u get in a cage with scuba gear on, they push the cage off with a line attached, and when you get in the water, sharks will come up to u but they cant hurt u because they cant get in.
The Cage - 1995 is rated/received certificates of: South Africa:16
There are tonnes of places to go shark diving. The most popular shark dives are with Great Whites while you're in a cage. Gaansbai in Cape Town South Africa is by far the most visited site for this but there are other places like Port Lincoln in South Australia. If you want to dive with other sharks Hawaii has really good dive trips with Sandbar Sharks, Galapagos Sharks, Hammerhead and occasionally tiger sharks. Also some aquariums will have dives with Grey Nurse sharks or lemon sharks.

Three mechanical sharks -- all nicknamed Bruce, after Steven Spielberg's lawyer -- were used in the making of the movie Jaws.No real sharks were used, except for the footage of the shark attacking the underwater cage. That was filmed (on a completely separate location, in Australia) with a real shark (although the cage was very tiny, and the diver inside who was standing in for Matt Hooper/Richard Dreyfuss was a little person (like, 3 feet tall). The shark was only average sized: the tiny cage and diver make it look gigantic.
That is incorrect! It was not invented by Jacques Cousteau! Jacques Cousteau co- developed the "Aqua Lung" The first underwater breathing apparatus! The First shark cage was invented by South Australian Great White shark attack survivor Rodney Fox, in Australia!
No, they used mechanical sharks. The only real shark footage is in the scene where Matt Hooper is in the underwater shark cage. That was filmed with a real great white shark, and a midget or dwarf stunt actor in a miniature cage, to make the shark look bigger.
Most shark dives in Hawaii are with Galapagos Sharks which are most active in the morning. On the North Shore we went out at 8:30am and had around 20 of these sharks around the cage.
