The engine control module for a quad 4 engine is located under the IDI cover, which is the rectangular, curved piece of metal in the middle top of the engine that fits over the spark plugs. The ECM has the wires connected to it at the edge of the IDI cover. Remove the IDI cover by unscrewing the four bolts that hold it down and lift it straight up. The ECM is attached to the underside of the IDI.
This does not apply to the Iron Duke engine or the V6 engine that they also put in the Calais.
The electronic control module is located behind the right side of the dash board
I believe it is located under the passinger side seat? At least on my 89 LXi is where it is
I have an 89 Delta 88 and if you have Electronic Climate Control there is a control module located just right(passenger side) of center at the firewall. It is in the same location as the blower fan resister assembly on a car with standard a/c controls.
Under the rear of vehicle, just right of center.
The book I looked in has some printing missing BUT it looks like the ignition module could be mounted below the steering column. It is in some Subaru's. Hope this helps.

how the transmission module works
If you remove the distributor cap and rotor you will see it bolted to the plate and it will have electric wires pluged into it. It will be on the right side of the distributor.
The spark control module on a 1989 Chevrolet model van is located in the distributor. To check its life, one must remove the distributor cap and unplug the center coil wire. Replace with a clean, brand new spark plug, and test the van's ignition.
if you're getting fuel to the throttle body it could be the ignition module if your getting fuel this is more than likely the problem, it could be coil pack if not getting any spark from any of your plug wires if your not getting fuel or spark at the same time i believe it may be your control module if control module is out u wont get fuel or fire my 89 is getting fuel but no sspark and i was told it was my ignition module auto zone knew exactly what my problem was try calling them they can also test your ignition module before u spend money on one if its not the ignition module
The Idle Air Control is on the throttle body.
all gasoline injectors are driven by the ecm, or engine control module.
