I'm almost certain you will find it in the gas tank. I have an '88 Trooper and had to replace the fuel pump, and had to drop the gas tank to do it. If you get a Haynes repair manual, it will walk you through the process, it isn't that difficult. Obviously, the less fuel that you have in the tank, the easier it is. I used a floor jack to support the tank while I unbolted and disconnected it, and then just lowered it and wheeled it out from under the vehicle. The fuel pump will be located on top of the tank. Good Luck!!
It is on the right side of the block and very hard to get to
What is your question about the 89 fuel pump? I have every year FSM and parts catalogs for the Impulse.
most fuel pumps on most cars are located inside the gas/fuel tank, unless there is an alternative fuel pump added post factory.
In the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank & take fuel pump out from the top. This is NOT a job for an amateur.
