Mac und cheese which was a common casserole, was created in Germany and then was interoduced into Britain. Macaroni and cheese goes all the way back to 1802 when the United StatesPresident Thomas Jefferson, was first served the dish in the White House. Before coming to America, macaroni & cheese was an English dish described as macaroni baked with cream and cheese.

Kraft Mac n Cheese: This product came about during WWII when the rationing of dairy products was necesary and the need for powdered cheese became popular!

Although a folk tale origin of macaroni credits it to Marco Polo bringing it back from China about 1292 CE, it is now thought to be already in Italy over hundred years prior to that and even earlier in Sicily. A safe guess would therefore be about 900 years ago.
