I assume you mean the obverse. Thomas Jefferson. the JEFFERSON NICKEL reverse normally shows Monticello, his personally-designed estate. it is popularily confuwsed withe the Jefferson Memorial, a different building, similar style of dome, in Washington. Monticello is not, strictly speaking , In DC, the Jefferson memorial is.

Thomas Jefferson has been on the nickel since 1938. There have been 3 different portraits:

> A left-facing image from 1938 to 2004

> A right-facing partial image during 2005 only

> A forward-facing portrait since 2006.
