Gheorghe Zamfir is, by far, the most widely celebrated Pan Flute player in the world.

He has enormous scope in his ability to play virtually any piece playable on the flute, whether sombre soothing tones or virtuosic; he can pitch piercingly high notes and he controls lower register with superb craftsmanship, and can make all sorts of wonderful exquisite sounds from the instrument as well.
