Wrong, NBF did not nor was he one of the ones who started it. It was started by 4 ex Confederate Officers and 2 ex Confederate enlisted men. They were called the crazy 6. NBF was not one of the names. Forrest was asked to help start it but was busy restarting his business after the war and did not have time.

He did join later a was made a leader. But after he saw how violent it had become he resigned and ordered it dismantled, which it was not. He belong for about 5 years.

The KKK was a branch of the Democrat Party. There are huge historical events that have been warped to fit the liberal agenda. Most blacks were originally Republicans , because it was Republicans who led the movement to put an end to slavery. It was the GOP that, for the next 100 years, kept introducing the Civil Rights legislation that was repeatedly shot down by the Democrats.

It was the Republican platform that had anti-lynching legislation, anti-poll tax legislation, public accommodation legislation, etc. The Republican platform in 1956 endorsed Brown vs. Board of Education. The Democratic platform did not - in fact, in 1956 they ran a segregationist on their ticket.
