World Solar Challenge is organized once in two years. There was not WSC in 2008, but also was North American Solar Challenge in U.S. and Univ. of Michigan Solarcar Team won the race with Continuum solarcar.
The Solar Car Challenge was created in 1993.

yes there are some solar cars like SunSwift solar car eVe, which holds an FIA world record and in 2015 will be Australia's first road legal solar car
Solar car: an electric car powered by solar panels on its roof, usually charging batteries. These are made individually, usually by universities or vehicle companies, to compete in a Solar Race, like the World Solar Challenge, from Darwin, Australia to Adelaide, held every two years, a distance of 3000 km (1800 miles). The cars usually take around 50 hours to finish the race. The cars are extremely light, and the driver needs to balance the need for speed and battery charging and battery use, as occasionally the sky is cloudy.
yes at toy world
A solar engine for a solar car is actually an electric motor. Solar cells on a solar car collect solar energy, which is then sent to a battery or battery pack in the form of DC current. This energy is then used to power the solar car.
There are many across the world in different countries. For example, there are several solar powered car races in the US.
One can purchase a solar car online on websites. Some of the useful websites for purchase of a solar car are Solar Electrical Vehicles, Silicon Solar and Sunnev.

not unless you have solar panels on your car...
Aurora Solar Car was created in 1980.
There are no solar car batteries you can buy. You can purchase a solar battery charger and solar panels but not a solar battery that you install in a vehicle.
