- The media and society as a whole has stereotyped the elderly for centuries as being inefficient; unable to make decisions on their own; incapable of looking after themselves; classifying them as 'needy' or addle-brained. Between the media and society this can psychologically affect some elderly people and they basically cave in to the thought that what the media and society is saying they are just that. Thankfully, the stereotyping is fading away a little at a time and many elderly people are still very active either in volunteering; jogging; riding their trail bikes, going to the gym, etc., which causes society to view them in a different light. Even for some elderly that have several illness' they may be dealing with they can hold their heads up high and are veered as being sincere, wise and kind. It is only a young fool that doesn't listen to someone who is much older and experienced in life. Times change as far as progress, but life in general does not change!
