Each state elects two U.S. Senators, and there are currently 50 U.S. states. If/When statehood is granted to a 51st state, like Puerto Rico, Jefferson, or Long Island for example, the U.S. Senate will have 102 seats.

The Connecticut Compromise stated that each state would have two senators and the number of representatives would be decided based on population.
