St. Regina remained steadfast in her Christian faith even in the face of torture and death. When the proconsul Olybrius wanted to marry the humble shepherdess and demanded that she abandon her religion, she refused to do so, and he had her beheaded. Saint Regina is venerated as a saint for her strong faith and martyrdom. She refused to marry a Roman prefect due to her Christian beliefs, and as a result, she was tortured and eventually killed for her refusal to renounce her faith. Her bravery in the face of persecution and her commitment to her beliefs led to her being recognized as a saint in the Christian tradition.

Faith was one of three daughters of St. Sophia who suffered martyrdom during the early Roman persecutions of Christians. The early Christian community considered all martyrs to be saints,

There are some who say that St. Sophia and her daughters were fictional characters, part of an ancient allegory.

Regina was a convert to Christianity, she was driven from her family's home because of her faith, and lived as a poor, prayerful shepherdess. Imprisoned, tortured and martyred when she refused an arranged marriage to the Roman proconsul Olybrius. Martyrdom meant almost certain sainthood to the early Church.
