∙ 10y agoThe reason why they could'nt recognine Jesus is because it was after the transformation. Which The Bible clearly state, "old things are gone and is now, taken on the form of the spirit".

Many people did recognize Jesus as the Messiah, but the majority of Israelites who didn't at the time was because they were expecting the Messiah to literally fulfil prophecy and Jesus didn't. He didn't literally sit on the throne of David or carry a sword, etc. It is much like today's Christians expect Christ's return to be literal fulfilment of John of Patmos' Book of Revelation.
