Answer A Muslims are expected to marry because prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was married and Muslims are not allowed to become celibate as monks or nuns. All Muslims agree that marriage is a contract, witnessed by God, which is ideal for good life. Hint on Answer AThe answer above (by Itays-Rose) is excellent and it may be useful to add:

Muslims believe that God honored mankind, over all other creatures, by marriage per religion and according to religion commands. That is why Muslims believe that any sex (whether oral or intercourse sex) is forbidden and is sinful if practiced outside religious marriage. God says in Quran, Muslims holy book:

" وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴿٢١"

(meaning English translation):

"And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect. (21)"

This is a stereotype and overgeneralization. The majority of Muslims marry individuals who they choose, but are generally approved of by their families. Additionally, more and more Muslims are marrying individuals that their parents do not approve of as time passes.

This is more a cultural thing than a religious thing. Jews and Christians from the Islamic World had arranged marriages at roughly the same percentages as Muslims did. It helped to preserve wealth between allied families (as opposed to diluting it by bringing in new blood) and minimized tribal disputes between the families of the married couple (since they were families on good terms anyway).

This is a stereotype and overgeneralization. The majority of Muslims marry individuals who are at least third cousins if not completely unrelated. Additionally, more and more Muslims are marrying individuals who are not related to them as time passes.

There is no legal requirement that a marriage in Islam be arranged. However, many Muslims come from more traditional countries where arranged marriages still prevail (both among Muslim and Non-Muslim inhabitants). Muslims who are more modern in their outlook (while still religious) will marry by choice.

This is primarily because of local traditions, not because of Islam. Most Muslims come from places where the tradition of arranged marriages has not given way to love-marriages as it has in the West. However, Islamic Law does not speak to this question, meaning that Muslims can choose which style suits them and their situations better.

Muslims are allowed to marry up to 4 wives. however, this is not a rule and this allowance is subject to certain conditions. Historically, it was the practice for men to marry unlimited number of women in addition to having slave women. This was the rule in all religions including Judaism and Christianity. Islam religion is the first God religion to limit the number to four and with conditions.Refer to question below.

Islam is one of those religions that believe it is acceptable to marry your cousin. It should be noted, however, that "cousin brother" and "cousin sister" have no meaning in the English language.
