# Vacuum leakage check mounting bolts at carburetor, throttle body and intake manifold for tightness # Fault in fuel or electrical systems # Leaking EGR valve or plugged PCV valve # Air filter clogged # Fuel pump not get enough fuel to carburetor/fuel injectors # Carburetor out of adjustment # Leaking head gasket.Perform compression check # Camshaft lobes worn
when engine is first started cold it will have a eratic idle till it warms up some this is my experiance
You don't, fix the vacuum leak that's causing the eratic idle conditions
idle air control valve?
There can be a couple of reasons for your idle being eratic. one of which might be the carb. try cleaning it with carb and choke cleaner. if that doesnt do anything check all of your fuel lines lots of times there might be a small plug which would be slowing the fuel and not letting as much get to the carb. also check your fuel mixture screw.
try this link http://www.geocities.com/toyotashawn/bizzareidle.html
on the left side of the intake is a round cylinder with wires plugged into it. this is the idle control. It is most likely dirty. take it off and clean it out with carb and choke cleaner.
If its the fuel injection model sounds like idle air control valve need cleaned out.
This is a very common fault on these cars (i've had 5). Two of the most common causes of which are 1. A dirty idle control valve - Find, remove, clean and reinsert it. 2. broken Lambda sensor - replace original
Idle Air Control Motor malfunctioning.
i have a 1988 Ford Bronco XLT 5.0 4x4. The truck will start and idle for about 15 to 30 seconds then acts like it has no fuel and dies.
your truck wont idle correctly when its cold, because its cold...and nothing runs correctly when it's cold. your truck wont idle correctly when its cold, because its cold...and nothing runs correctly when it's cold.
