perhaps the fuse was inserted backwards. some cars will blow fuses if the fuse is intalled this way because in these fuses electrical flow only goes one way.
There is a short somewhere.

You can find the fuse box diagram, for your 1989 Ford Bronco, by taking the fuse box cover off. The diagram of the fuses is on the bottom of the cover.

A simple first step would be to check the fuses to these lights, then go from there.
