Hatred of, or prejudice against, people because of their ethnic background or religious beliefs is one of the most important causes of wars and suffering in the world. When we look around at our recent history and in modern times, we find hatred and prejudice has resulted in the Holocaust in Germany, mass murders and starvation in parts of Africa, and is arguably the cause of much of the suffering on both sides in Palestine. Antisemitism is one aspect of hatred and prejudice, and there should be no doubt in the minds of all people of good will that this is evil.

As a general rule people who hate a particular race, religion or creed do so because of fear or ignorance. It is also encouraged by people with an agenda against that group, using Propaganda, half truths and lies. Hatred also underlies much violence in the world. If people stopped exerting so much energy toward hating people who are different, they might just have the energy to rebuild this world to be a happier place.

Anti-Semitism is important for the same reason that Racism is important and Ethnocentrism is important. These concepts of permitted discrimination against a minority have been used systematically to deny people their natural rights.
