The piping has soap scum build up along with other debris like lint and then bacteria starts growing cause the odor .To properly clean the lines one should water Jet NOT snake the lines to restore full flow and remove the deposits
It needs aleast a 2 in. pipe. tubs are 1.5 in.
The laundry waste pipe is fitted to the main drain near the toilet and the main pipe down the line past toilet is partly plugged, forcing the laundry waste up the toilet waste tube. You need to auger the pipe from toilet to outside. If all the piping is in ground you will have to remove toilet from floor to do this properly.
yes you can do this on a runing trap but make sure that the pipe bore is wide enough!!
Yes, this is alright as long as the hose from the washer doesn't fit tightly into the pipe. There has to be a little room for air to get in so that the drain will vent.
Could be caused by a couple of things. If you have an onsite septic system (tank and drain field) the tank may be full, and the rainwater is causing it's contents to backup the main drain back in to the house. A vent pipe could be plugged, which causes the sewer gas to back up. If you are hooked to a public sewer, there may be a blockage in the main drain out to the line in the street. Have a plumbing contractor check it out. It can be very dangerous.
Radio Shack "drain pipe tracer".
Foul Air
Yes, a sewage drain pipe can be too large.
If you are talking about a roof water drain pipe to sewer it is illegal. If you are talking about a sink drain pipe well that is where they all connect to so yea.
dvw pipe = drain, waste and vent pipe.
As long as the pipe going into the wall is straight, the rest of the drain pipe can be routed however it needs to be. Very often the trap is at an angle to the pipe in the wall.
There are multiple reasons to get your drain pipe inspected. One major reason to inspect a drain pipe is before buying a house to make sure everything runs correctly.
