British and Australian troops were sent to Gallipolli in 1915 in order to capture the dardinelles straight - knocking turkey out of the war and putting pressure on Germany. The reason it was so important to Russia was because the purpose of gaining the dardinelles straight was to gain access for ships to send suplies to russia. It is probably not as important today since much international cargo travels by air, but when almost everything was shipped by sea, the ports on the Black Sea were Russia's only access to the open ocean that would not be blocked ice in the winter.

Because at the top part of Russia was the Artic ocean which its conditions are very cold, harsh and rough. With out the access to the Dardanelles Russia would have to go all the way around the Artic ocean and around Russia just to export or import any goods, so the access to the Dardanelles were crucial to Russia so they could save time, and have a safer journey.

The Black Sea allowed the former Tsarist Russia to commence building a Navy; protected from out of area (other nations) interferrence. When Britain and France found out about it, they went to war with Russia in 1853 until defeating Russia in 1856 (Crimea War). Secondly, the Black Sea separates Russia (and Eastern Europe) from Turkey, formerly called Asia MINOR, formerly called the "Ottoman Empire", which was part of the Central Powers (the enemy during WW1).

What is the importance of the Dardanelles?

The Dardanells was a stragictic focal point of WW1 because it was the only sea access to the Black Sea, Russia's only warm water port. During winter all of Russia's other ports frezze over and the country can't receive imports by sea. As Turkey was not letting any ships through the Dardanells Russia decided that it was top priority that they reclaim the area so ships could pass through and replenish Russia with supplies.mission report December 16 1991lol I'm dumb omg download I funny

Those that live in the north, east and southwest of Russia, I believe so, because on the North of Russia there is the Artic Ocean, instead on the east, there is the Sea of Okhotsk, when on the southwest there is the Caspian sea, and Black sea.If your question is if the Russian population fishes on based on their geographic area, but on their personal preferences and a population, then I don't know. sorry.
