∙ 7y agoThe Treaty of Versailles took away their dignity and pride: Germany got land taken away and the army was reduced. They also had to pay back money to America and many Germans thought it was discriminating them.
According to the Treaty of Versailles, Germany alone was held responsible for the aggression. Germans had to pay a large sum of monetary reparations to the League of Nations (around 6600 pounds) and their military forces (including army and navy) were strictly limited. Moreover, they lost a lot of land. For example: overseas colonies, Alsace-Lorraine (to France), and cannot station troops in Rhineland, which originally was a part of Germany. The union between Germany and Austria was also banned.
Therefore, the Germans felt that the Treaty was way too harsh and that Germany should not be the only one responsible. They felt that it was very unfair and were angry towards the treaty.
