You either need a new transmission or a transmission fluid flush and refill.
You don't flush a manual transmission. You just drain the old fluid, and refill with new.
Work needs to be performed. Also depends where it is leaking from. If pan is leaking just drain transmission fluid and install new pan gasket and refill transmission with fluid. If front seal leaking then you will have to pull transmission and replace front seal.
Remove the level plug.
For a 1995 manual transmission grand am, the fluid capacity is 2.0 quarts for a complete drain and refill. The fluid type is 80W90 transmission oil.
If you have the 1.9L, you have to take the speedo cable assembly out and there will be the hole to fill your transmission fluid
For automatic trans you refill the fluid thru the dipstick and for manual theres a fill hole in the tranny..
On manual transmission until oil flows out of full level hole. on most manual transmission the refill hole is the oil level. On automatic transmission if no oil shows on dipstick add a quart at a time.
if it is a automatic transmission you should change it every 15,000 miles, and if its a manual its recomeded at 30,000-45,000
iN THE REAR DOOR OPENING.
you change the manual transmission fluid in a '99 cavalier simply by removing the transmission drain plug and allowing all the fluid to drain then replace the plug and refill with Syncromesh transmission fluid(that is the fluid recommended by Chevy for use in your transmission) It should take 2 quarts.
To change the transmission fluid on the manual 1998 Ford Escort ZX2, drain the fluid from the drain hole near the speed sensor. Then refill the fluid using the plug in the side of the transmission.
