I had this problem and found it to be the transmitter for body check was being turned on & off overnight by signals transmitted from outside sources, These can be A neighbours garage door opener ,Broadband for computers,There are a number of things, but I think Broadband is what caused my prob.

The solution for me was to disconnect the Ariel wire from the transmitter which is situated behind a panel that is behind the rear right passenger seat, easy fix.

Side effect is you won't be able to unlock or lock your car from the key fob unless you press lock or unlock beside where the transmitter is situated.

Alternatively you can buy a new transmitter that has been upgraded to prevent outside interference that is causing your range rover to have sleepless nights waking up in the morning totally stuffed .

Your volt meter reads 16 volts at the battery at idle The alternator and voltage regulator have been replaced Do you have a problem?

Alternator Output Voltage RangeGenerally, alternator output voltage is consider OK if it is in the range between 12 1/2 volts to a maximum of 16 volts. Therefore, although the output is at the maximum, you do not seem to have a problem.Usually, if the battery has had a lot of drain, then the alternator output will run at the maximum until the battery is fully charged.

The battery on my aurora drains really quick when i turn on anything electrical how do i fix it?

You either have a weak battery that needs replacement or you alternator is defective. Start the engine and check the voltage at the battery with a volt meter. It should read from 13.5-16 volts. Anything less and the alternator needs replacing. If it is reading within that range the battery is defective. Another possibility is a defective battery cable that is swollen or frayed.

What is the voltage output on a 2000 ford windstar?

Normal voltage, checking at the battery or alternator should be in the 14 range.

How can you tell if your car battery is dead?

This is easy - you can determine the functionality of the alternator in less than 5-minutes. With the engine off, using a volt meter switched to measure DC current, place the red lead against the positive battery terminal/post and the black lead against the negative battery terminal/post and test the voltage. A good battery should measure around 12-volts (a good battery has a range of slightly lower to slightly higher than 12-volts). If you get within this range you have a properly charged battery and can then move to the next step and test the alternator. Turn the engine on and again place the red lead against the positive battery terminal/post and the black lead against the negative battery terminal/post and test the voltage. The alternator is designed to generate enough voltage to replace the 12-volts of power being used by the vehicle's electrical system and charge the battery at the same time. Therefore, a properly working alternator will push about 14-volts of electricity into the system (a properly functioning alternator will generate a range of slightly lower to slightly higher than 14-volts). If the system is generating around 14-volts with the engine running, then you can reasonably conclude that the alternator is working properly. If you you are having battery charging problems (will not hold a charge) and the system is pushing around 14-volts with the engine running, you can then reasonably conclude that the battery needs replacing. If the system is producing less than the normal range of about 14-volts, you may need to replace the alternator. Keep in mind that a good battery may go bad if it is repeatedly used in a system in which the alternator is not working properly. If the systems tests within the normal range of 14-volts while the engine is running, replace only the alternator first and see if the battery then holds a charge. If it doesn't, then you will need to replace the battery also.

How can you tell when it is a starter or alternator that is the problem in a 1992 Mitsubishi Diamante what does it sound look or act like?

AnswerWhat is vehicle doing??With a fully charged batteryCheck voltage with a volt meter at battery at rest it should be around 12.75With engine running volts should be 13.8-14.2 if in this range alternator is workingCheck battery cables for looseness and/or corrosionmake sure that the current its getting to the starter solenoid i had a problem when i tried to start my car and the problem was the back part of the ignition switch it had a loose screw i fixed it and now it starts fine

Car battery keeps draining and alternator light starts to come on when accelerating?

Check battery cables and alternator wiring for looseness and/or corrosion. Weak alternator--can't keep up with battery load. Check with a voltmeter A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 volts withou engine running With engine voltage should increase to approx. 13.8-14.2 volts. If not in this range replace

How to Test voltage regulator on 1981 f150?

Get a good digital volt meter.Set the meter to DC volts at the 20 V range. Start and run the unit at 1500 RPM. Use the probes of the DVM on the battery posts. 13.6 to 14.0 Volts indicates the regulator operating. If lower suspect that the battery is low on charge, the alternator belt is loose or there is a bad diode in the alternator. If the voltage is higher than 14.0 V assume the regulator is bad and needs to be replaced. To check for bad diodes set the meter to AC Volts at the lowest range available (5V should do). Probe the battery, an AC reading greater than about 150-200 milli-Volts indicates a shorted diode. To test the regulation further run accessories (headlights etc.) to make sure the alternator maintains 13.2 Volts or greater. Lower voltage under load can point to a problem with the regulator or alternator.

How do you turn the engine off the range roover?

If your engine does not turn off by the key I suggest disconnecting the battery and alternator and immediately fixing what is wrong

What is the voltage output from alternator to battery?

Normal voltage will be in the 13.5 to 15 volt range engine running turning about 2,000 rpms. It shouldn't exceed 16 volts or it will boil your battery. If it does not run in this range then you need to replace the voltage regulator. These days that is usually done by replacing the whole alternator as a unit. It is usually the most cost effective method of repair.

How can you know if your alternator is bad?

Check the voltage output at the battery posts with a multimeter set to DC voltage in the 20 volt range engine idling. You should get from 13.5 to 16 volts. Any more or less and the alternator is bad.

What does it mean when the battery voltage light stays on in a 1988 Honda Accord?

It could mean a few things. There's a voltage range in which that light stays off, which seems to be between 11.5v and 14.5v. The light comes on when you're either above or below that range. Start by checking the alternator fuse. If that's good, and it almost always is, do a voltage test. Too low and the alternator is probably bad; too high and the voltage regulator went out. (Which is basically the same thing, since the VR is inside the alternator case.) Check to see if alternator is charging battery. With volt meter connect to battery and vehicle not running check voltage - start vehicle and observe volt meter should be around 14.2 volts - if no different running or not or if lower with vehicle running alternator is not charging battery and should be replaced. If alternator functioning properly it is probably just the "trigger" wire on alternator.

What should the output of an automobile alternator be?

Alternator Output Voltage RangeGenerally, an automotive alternator is considered to be "good" if the output voltage is in the range between 12 1/2 volts and a maximum of 16 volts.Anything below 12 1/2 volts probably will not adequately charge the battery, and voltages above 16 volts can "cook" the water out of the electrolyte, and cause damage to the battery.
